Travel onboard the city’s mini train

A journey onboard the mini train at the heart of la Cité de Pierres with a stop at the dark balm (a shelter under a rock) for a video projection showing you the 7 keys of the city.

For all those who wish to discover the site comfortably (families with children, seniors...), the little train of Montpellier-le-Vieux offers you a guided tour of almost an hour, to follow in the footsteps of Edouard Alfred Martel.

  • Several daily departures : see departures.
  • Guided tour in French given by the driver. 2 trains, each with 45 spaces are available.
  • Prices: See the individual prices

The small wheeled train of Montpellier-le-Vieux, started in 1989, follows a 1.5 km-long track through the heart of la Cité de Pierres. The journey lasts 1 hour, including stops.

It follows the Cirque des Millières through the Allée des Baumes and the Allée des Tombeaux, then follows the majestic Cirque des Rouquettes. It passes in front of the Baume Obscure and underneath the nez de Cyrano at the Chaire du Diable, reaching the roundabout of the Citerne.

It is very easy to see the legendary Porte de Mycènes from this roundabout, or to access the paths furthest away from the entrance: Château Gaillard with Le Magnifique has one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the city, or the Forêt Ombragée with the Arc de Triomphe and the Roc Camparolié (roc’art).
